An intimate look at the life of The Man in Black

John Carter Cash spent the first 27 years of his life on tour with his parents, Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash, taking to the stage with them during almost every show.

"House of Cash: The Legacies of My Father, Johnny Cash," provides an intimate look at the marriage of John and June, the father son relationship between John Carter and his famous father and a glimpse into the life of The Man in Black.

Preserving his family's legacy, Cash shares never before seen photographs, letters, poems, lyrics, and images from the Cash family archives. The book reads like a family scrapbook, complete with 8 removable facsimiles which include:
  • A handmade Valentine's Day card from Johnny to June
  • JR Cash's 1950 diploma from Dyess High School
  • A letter from Johny Cash to his father-in-law, Pop Carter, expressing the strong bond he felt with the Carter family
  • A collection of Cash family recipes, including John and June's Cashburgers, John's Soy Grit Bread, and the family chili recipe, Old Bon Aqua Black Bart No. 37
  • A sketchbook featuring some of Johnny Cash's expressive artwork, including a self-portrait
  • A New Year's Eve letter from Johnny Cash to himself, looking back at 1968 - the year he married June Cater and recorded At Folsom Prison
  • A lyric sheet for the late great work "Like the 309." the last song Johnny Cash wrote
  • A keepsake album of candid Johnny Cash photographs that shows a lighter side to the Man in Black
John Carter Cash will be signing copies of "House of Cash: The Legacies of My Father, Johnny Cash," throughout Nashville this fall, making a stop at the Country Music Hall of Fame before heading to New York for some guest appearances on major radio programs and TV outlets.
